Low cost airlines often advertise discounts of their prices. During the discount period, the airline’s website displays the new prices as well as the old ones. But can we be sure that the “old price” they show is the real price of the flight 1 minute before the promotion started?
A WizzAir customer reported on a blog that he had been following the flight prices on 2 different routes for one week. On the 20th of May, when the airline celebrated its 7th anniversary, they offered a 20% discount on all their flights for just 1 day. Too bad that when the customer checked the airline’s website he noticed that both flights actually costed more than what they had costed the day before. So, the 20% discount was just a fake offer made by WizzAir in order to gain publicity for their flights.
If you have the time, it is always a good idea to monitor the prices for a few days, so that you can tell a real discount from a fake one. Did you find yourself in a similar situation when monitoring lowcost flight prices? If so, please let me know.
